El Paseo was the first commercial center in Las Terrenas. It is in the center of the village just a few steps from the sea and is somewhat of a symbol of tourist development in Las Terrenas. The tropical original architecture was designed by Daniel Babilly, a French architect who still resides in Las Terrenas.
Slender palm trees, surrounded by cane roofs, columns of acacia, Taino sculptures, a small fountain, and its pathways protected from the sun or the rain, make this a pleasant place to spend a moment.
El Paseo divides its shops, businesses and offices on two floors ... A set of shops on the ground floor: fashion, jewelry, hairdresser, gifts, deco, galleries, tobacco, newstand, bank, breweries, pharmacy, travel agencies and excursions, real estate agencies surround the Jean de la Fontaine Plaza. Upstairs, with views of the coconut trees, you will also find real estate agencies, architect and lawyers offices, and health practitioners such as acupuncturist, naturopath, physiotherapist and even an aesthetic clinic.
Clearly there are endless reasons to take a stroll through El Paseo.
